I know that Lou Williams has been waiting and working for the point guard job since he was drafted out of high school. And he clearly has improved over the years. And I also know that Eddie Jordan insists he doesn't look at the positions like you traditionally do.

Even with the win in Portland we are looking pretty solid at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. My hope is we keep this up. Honestly with a healthy Speights and Iverson the team is a little more watchable.

I would like to say that the Sixers gave a cavalier effort but that is just part of the story.

The 76ers finally find a team that they can beat up on. The Sixers beat the Warriors 117 to 101 at home in the Wa-Cove!
The 76ers play a strong 1st and 2nd quarter and a solid 3rd and 4th to stop their long losing streak. The Warriors had a horrific 3rd quarter for a relatively easy win.

The other day Andre Iguodala insisted that the Sixers were not as bad as their record indicated. And then last night (WEDS) they preceded to drop a basketball game to the lowly Detroit Pistons, who are as bad as their record indicates.

The Answer Returns!
It was crazy to see how emotional AI was over his recent signing with the Philadelphia 76ers. It truly touched my heart. But this isn’t just a sentimental acquisition. The Sixers could really benefit from bring back The Answer….

Say it ain't so Bubba Chuck!

Okay so the news is that AI is calling it quits. Because he insists he is a starter in this league. This has always been a part of Iverson's problem. He knows more than everyone else.

The NBA season is officially underway (unless you live in Chicago or Milwaukee).
After several hours parked in front of the NBA League Pass for the past two days, it’s time for some first impressions.

Talk about slim pickings. The NBA draft continues to spiral into a wasteland. Fortunately some of these picks will pan out for someone to some degree. But more and more if you don't have a top 3 pick, than you can throw a dart at a board and pray. What does that say about the overhyped Tyler Hansborough?

There are a lot of decisions for the 76ers to make this offseaon. both point guards, Andre Miller and Royal Ivey, are free agents. The point guard spot needs to be settled. The shooting guard spot may go to Lou Williams with Willie Green backing him up. Small forward is set with the teams best player, Andre Iguodala. Back up Kareem Rush is a free agent, but didn't contribute too much last year. Thadeus Young played well in Elton Brand's absence. Now that Brand is healthy, there is a lot of flexibility at the power forward spot. Sean Dalembert started all but one game, but just doesn't score. Marreese Speights is still developing. 9 out of the past 14 draft have produced 4 starters and 5 bench players. One of those starters was an all-star. So, they are likely to find someone that can help. Ty Lawson may be there.

The mediocre 76ers have had some success recently but they were not happy with Mo Cheeks leading them. They allowed Tony DiLeo finishes out the year and to his credit the team did finish stronger than they started. They even gave the Orlando Magic a tough series in teh 1st round.

Tony DiLeo to my surprise and glee has withdrawn consideration from returning as Head Coach. He seems like a nice chap but I always thought he was in over his head. Then again I never had much confidence in Mo Cheeks either.

The Denver Broncos traded Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler and a fifth round pick in the 2009 draft to the Chicago Bears for signal-caller Kyle Orton, first round picks in both the 2009 and 2010 drafts, and a third round pick in this April's draft Thursday evening.

We're about 35 games into the NBA season right now -- nearly to the midway point -- and the New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks are holding on to the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. I doubt that's the way it will end, however, because the list of teams that are on the outside looking in is quite an interesting one: Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, and Indiana Pacers (to name the true contenders).

The Denver Nuggets did the right thing in getting rid of Allen Iverson. They never should have traded for Iverson to begin with. Iverson is one of the most overrated basketball players in the history of the NBA. The Pistons are sure to suffer and lose all hope of any run to a title.

Not since the 2001 NBA Finals have I been this excited about the Philadelphia 76ers.
The signing of free-agent power foward Elton Brand on Wednesday to a five-year, nearly $80 million contract gives Philadelphia the inside presence it has desperately seeked since going to the NBA Finals seven years ago, if not going back to the days of Charles Barkley.

By vultures, I'm not talking about the paparazzi and their quest to get the latest on Eva Longoria-Parker's hubby Tony Parker. Instead, I'm being painfully realistic.
The Spurs are down 2-0 to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Best-of-Seven Western Conference finals. The first game the Spurs barely lost despite having had virtually no rest and despite giving up a 20-point third-quarter lead. In the second game, things fared even worse as L.A. beat San Antonio 101-71. The Spurs have four championships, a great strong, silent leader in Tim "The Big Fundamental" Duncan and a team known for its defense. Well, this year the Lakers have given Kobe Bryant a nice supporting cast so that Kobe doesn't have to worry about doing it all by himself.

Although the Bulls season is over, there is plenty of basketball left in this season. The first round is about halfway done, and so far, there haven’t been too many surprises. I don’t think it is a shock to most people that the Spurs are over the Suns even with the addition of Shaq, Chris Paul is proving he is worth all the MVP-hype and the Lakers are back to being one of the most dominant teams in the league. The only series that is shaping up to be the most intriguing is Pistons vs. the 76ers, where the seventh seed holds a 2-1 lead over one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

They are finally here. After months of riveting basketball and a Western Conference race that went down to the last night of the season, they are here. Of course, I would be talking about the 2008 NBA Playoffs. The playoffs that have a chance to be the best in a long time. When was the last time a 50-win team is an 8 seed and has basically no chance of winning their first round season? When was the last time 2 of the best teams in the lead and 2 of the 5 teams that have a chance at winning it all, met in the first round? Forget all of that, when was the last time people were excited to begin the 2 month stretch for the title? Before any of this can begin we must take a look at each series and make some (gulp!!!) predictions.

There’s been a huge hullabaloo over the questionable call (and that’s putting it as politely and as PC and as grossly understated as possible), that went in the favor of the NBA’s favorite son, well his team the Cleveland Cavaliers anyway, and effectively screwed over the hard-working, young 76ers, as well as the loud-talking Washington Wizards. Dropping both into situations, that should, quite frankly, not be—or, not necessarily be.

After facing a 17 point deficit in the first quarter, the Bulls went on to win against the 76ers in Philadelphia. After looking absolutely pitiful in the first quarter, they came back and played hard in the second. While I have to admit I didn't get to watch the entire game, I did see the horrible first and the promising second.
