Almost exactly a year ago I wrote and published my first blog in this here forum of journalistic excellence and opinionated sports debate. I recounted the pitfalls of a thoroughly disappointing Lakers-Celtics Finals, one that should have been steeped in drama, history and haymakers but was instead hampered by flops, bricks, and poor decision-making. I find it fitting to sit here on this most unceremonious of anniversaries (does anyone still read this? if you’re out there, send money) and begrudgingly opine on yet another, equally disappointing Finals.

Ok, sure LeBron and Kobe are the 2 best players on the planet, but why this rivalry all of a sudden? Yes, it's good promotion for the league, however, the 2 have never played really meaningful g

The beauty of Kobe Bryant is that he has the shark like killer instinct. He will not overlook the Orlando Magic but he will step up his efforts and the demands he has on his teammates to stay focused. Only a great game from Orlando will prevent Kobe from destiny.

2009 NBA FINALS
VS
Heading into the 2009 NBA Finals I thought this was a fairly good match up on paper. I did believe the Lakers had some overall advantage with experience on the floor and with Coaching. Well, as did most of the known universe.

The Lakers dominated the 2nd and 3rd quarters and then never looked back. Kobe Bryant was "sick" in parts of this game as he was not to be denied at times. Yes even with Orlando playing good defense and contesting his shots, Bryant delivered. He was over, under and around the rim all night.

intriguing because LA is the more experienced team with a big time Coach and an All World player in Kobe Bryant. But the Magic just discarded a mega star in James. However Kobe will have help.

And while this is not a shocker I did think Kobe Bryant earned a little more love than he got from the voters. But who am I kidding, James was going to take this one hands down.
Congrats to the man-boy! He is a amazing. I say man-boy because he is a stud but he still has a boyish charm and energy level. Don't forget he played last summer in the Olympic games.

Are you like me? Are you thinking that last week’s NBA Finals should go down as one of the biggest disappointments in league history? Lakers-Celtics was supposed to rekindle the drama and mystique of the Finals; a match-up steeped in tradition, the best team from each conference squaring off in a best-of-seven, no-holes-bared, knockout, high-caliber glitz-fest. The glitz was plentiful, but the high-caliber basketball never really materialized.
