The recent version of the Detroit dynasty has proven to be an offensive force to be reckoned with. And of course Chris Osgood continues to be among the elite goaltenders in the NHL.
However that isn't what makes them such a formidable team. The fact is they just flat out know how to win. And Game 1's 3 to 1 victory was a classic example.
The Penguins offensive attack was up to the task but Chris Osgood was up to the challenge And Detroit as a whole matched the Pittsburgh intensity. The bottom line is the Red Wings find ways to win.
You know things are going great when Justin Abdelker steps right in for an injured player and scores in his first start. In the Stanley Cup Finals!
Hopefully the series will stay competitive but the Red Wings are not going to concede victory. The Penguins are going to have to pry wins out of their death grip.

I registered here just so i could comment on your horrendous blog...Have you even been watching these games or simply looking over the stat sheet and writing a few things down about how great the Red Wings are? The least you could do in your feeble attempt to blog about this series is give the reader a feel for what actually happened in the game.
The Penguins offensive attack was up to the task?! really? they scored one goal... Osgood played well obviously but he was beaten on a number of occasions and our offense simply didn't finish because of some tight-checking Red Wings D and the ever present "bounces" in hockey that can go either teams' way in any given game. They went the Wings way in game 1 probably because they were at home and it makes players more comfortable reading those bounces when they have played there all year. But the first goal of the game was truly lucky and Zetterberg is definitely NOT allowed to cover the puck when it's loose and Osgood has 0 control over it. I do not complain merely believe my penguins will overcome...The Wings had anything but a death grip on that game1 as they did a year ago....And that victory was NOT Red Wings classic hockey. which involves tremendous puck possession, limiting opposing chances, and few turnovers. They had none of these in game 1... Lets get back to reality here Nats...this will be a close series not one in which the Guins will be chasing the Wings all series.
